                                                           Student work on i move

Students and A+ Student working together-  everyone is a teacher here!

Student using diigo to research,  highlight and apply sticky notes all online!
Student Engagement- learning to blog!

Summer School 11 here at Lake Contrary started out with Passion for Learning Guidelines where we talked about what our class is all about and what we can do here. We discussed the importance of user names, passwords and internet safety.  In this class students have been excited to learn how to blog using Edmodo that included reading text about gardening, attaching files, and making comments to each other. We learned how to comment, ask questions and answer question on our blogs.  Students also learned how to research their own interests with highlights, and sticky notes using Diigo. They saved their research in "My Library" where they we able to share their interest with other students.  Our students also created their own i move using clipart from what they were interested in and recorded their voice to tell about their research. I am not sure who had more fun in this summer class, myself or the students!  The student engagement and excitement was prominent.   In our Passion for Learning Summer 11 class will also tried out more of Tools 2.0 such as classtools.net, doink.com and wall wisher.
I would like to give credit and thanks to Sean Nash for his sharing these tools, to Jena Kirschner for the installation to Bookmarks on our laptops and 2 high school students from Benton Kaylee and Brittney for their ability in assisting student learning.  This could not have been possible without the team.

Welcome to Smith's Station

I am glad you came to visit! My hope is that you will become a part of our Blogging family. This is a place where we can inform, share our thoughts, ideas, and learning experiences. Each one of us has something to offer. Each one of us has something to give that another could use. Together we can learn one from each other, share and reflect.
